Group A

Structural design & assessment

01

Structural analysis & design

Analysis and design of reinforced-concrete, steel, timber and masonry structures, from feasibility and structural concept through detailed design. The scope covers structural framing, global stability, gravity and lateral load resistance, foundations and connections, with strength, serviceability and robustness assessed against the agreed design basis. Technical submissions support the applicable review and approval processes.

Typical deliverables Design-basis reports, structural calculations, analytical models, drawings, coordinated details and technical presentations.

02

Existing structures & retrofitting

Assessment and strengthening of existing buildings, including historic structures, for alterations, increased loading, change of use or improved structural performance. We establish the investigation requirements, assess existing load paths and governing deficiencies, and develop targeted interventions suited to the structure and proposed works.

Typical deliverables Structural appraisal reports, assessment calculations, strengthening schemes and intervention details.

03

Complex steel structures & connections

Design and optimisation of long-span, irregular and architecturally demanding steel structures. Assessments address global stability, second-order effects, member buckling, connection stiffness and local load transfer, with fabrication requirements, erection conditions and geometric tolerances incorporated into the steelwork package.

Typical deliverables Steelwork calculations, connection designs, specialist assessments and coordinated structural details.

04

Seismic & performance-based design

Design and assessment of new and existing structures against defined strength, deformation and performance objectives. Seismic studies include modal and response-spectrum analysis, nonlinear static or response-history assessment where appropriate, and evaluation of drift, ductility and governing response mechanisms. Performance-based studies also address project-specific requirements beyond seismic loading.

Typical deliverables Performance criteria, analysis models, assessment reports, strengthening proposals and coordinated design information.

Group B

Specialist analysis & simulation

05

Finite-element & multiphysics analysis

Detailed numerical assessment of structural systems, connections and specialist components where simplified calculations do not adequately represent the governing behaviour. Studies address material and geometric nonlinearity, contact and local instability, alongside acoustic, electromagnetic and thermal phenomena and their structural interaction where relevant to the agreed scope.

Typical deliverables Numerical models, stress and deformation assessments, field-response results, sensitivity studies and technical interpretation reports.

06

Structural dynamics & vibration

Assessment of structural response to walking, rhythmic activity, machinery and other time-dependent excitation. Studies examine natural frequencies, mode shapes, damping assumptions and response amplitudes against project-specific criteria for occupant comfort, equipment operation or structural performance, with mitigation measures developed where required.

Typical deliverables Modal assessments, vibration-response studies, time-history results and mitigation recommendations.

07

Computational fluid dynamics

Steady-state and transient simulation of flow, pressure and heat-transfer effects in buildings, hydraulic systems and specialist components. Applications include wind actions, environmental flows and relevant flow-induced acoustic effects. Computational domains, site conditions and boundary assumptions are defined for the intended engineering application.

Typical deliverables Flow, pressure and thermal assessments, hydraulic studies, engineering load inputs and time-dependent visualisations.

08

Parametric & generative design

Development of parameter-driven models and computational workflows for the evaluation of structural and fabrication constraints. Geometry, loading, material and manufacturing requirements are incorporated into programmed design studies, allowing alternatives to be assessed against defined performance criteria and translated into coordinated models and drawings.

Typical deliverables Parametric models, design-option studies, computational workflows and coordinated model or drawing outputs.

Group C

Digital engineering & project delivery

09

BIM modelling & information management

Development and coordination of structural models and associated project information for design, construction and asset operation. The scope includes multidisciplinary coordination, data compilation and analysis, technical detailing and information-delivery planning, with model content, operational data and exchange requirements defined for the project.

Typical deliverables Coordinated models, drawing packages, coordination reports, structured asset information and specified information exchanges.

10

Project management & technical coordination

Management of engineering scope, design programmes, specialist interfaces and technical deliverables. We coordinate responsibilities, monitor information dependencies and manage design changes, with structured reporting on progress, outstanding decisions and technical risks throughout the appointed stages.

Typical deliverables Design programmes, responsibility schedules, progress reports, action registers and change records.

11

Temporary works & construction-stage engineering

Structural assessment and design for temporary conditions, construction loading and staged alterations. Applications include crane-load assessments, temporary support arrangements, installation loads and modifications to existing structures, with particular attention to stability, changing support conditions and interfaces with permanent works.

Typical deliverables Temporary-condition calculations, construction-stage assessments, support details and technical method inputs.

12

Independent design review & verification

Independent examination of structural calculations, analytical models and design information against an agreed checking brief. Reviews address the design basis, load paths, modelling assumptions, governing limit states and consistency between calculations and drawings, with findings recorded through a structured technical-comment process.

Typical deliverables Review reports, independent calculations, technical-comment schedules and resolution records.

Group D

Development & project advisory

13

Urban planning & infrastructure advisory

Engineering-led studies supporting urban development and project planning. We compile and analyse site, infrastructure and contextual information, assess technical constraints and coordinate relevant specialist inputs to inform development options and construction planning.

Typical deliverables Site and infrastructure studies, constraints assessments, development-option appraisals and technical inputs to planning documentation.

14

Project feasibility & financial analysis

Development-stage assessment linking technical options, project information and financial assumptions. We prepare and analyse data to compare development scenarios, examine cost and programme implications, and identify the sensitivities affecting project feasibility.

Typical deliverables Feasibility studies, scenario comparisons, project financial models, sensitivity assessments and decision-support reports.

15

FIDIC contract preparation & technical support

Preparation and coordination of engineering and project information for FIDIC-based contract documentation. The scope addresses technical requirements, work descriptions, deliverables and design interfaces, with project-specific inputs coordinated across the appointed commercial and contractual team.

Typical deliverables Technical schedules, scope descriptions, coordinated contract inputs and clarification records.

Appointments

A defined scope from the outset.

Appointments may cover a focused technical study, an individual design stage or a coordinated engineering package. Each proposal identifies scope boundaries, required inputs, technical interfaces, deliverables, programme and review requirements.

Next step

Discuss the engineering requirement.

Send the project brief, current design information and target programme. We will identify the relevant services and define the proposed appointment.
